While I was traveling through rural Indiana work-trading on a small local farm, my hosts offered to lend me their kayak to take to the lake down the road. One afternoon I got it into the back of my pickup and went down to the water. The lilies were so beautiful and I had been wanting to try this new turmeric printing process, so i thought this would be the perfect first specimen. (The leaf also doubled as a great sun blocker while I was on the water, as you can see!)
I lined up all of my supplies in the sun (rookie mistake) and got to work. The ink turned out super dark because it stared developing the minute I mixed it in the direct light but the images still came out. It was far from perfect but I was so impressed and amazed by the results.
